Types of Manufacturing
Turning
Turning a lathe enables for the manufacturing of cylindrical pieces. X, Y, and A movement lathes are employed in almost all cylindrical machining projects. Turning using a lathe limits the total diameter of the stock being machined to 7 inches, but may turn items up to 32 inches long.
Milling
Most components may be machined 2.5D and 3D using 3-axis milling on a vertical milling machine. The bulk of machining projects use 3-axis milling, which moves in X, Y, and Z directions. Milling on a 3 Axis machine necessitates that each work face be machined independently. Each work face requires the part to be positioned and fastened using a method known as work-holding.
